The concept of teaching life skills through martial arts dates back to 1988, when Nick Cokinos of EFC introduced life skills lessons across all of their schools, including those taught by Grandmaster Silva. In the mid-90s, Paul Garcia launched the STAR program — "Students Taking a Responsible Stand" — which laid the foundation for what would become Black Belt Excellence.

Today, BBE is used by martial arts schools across the country. Some of our partner schools have been with us since the very beginning. This isn't a new idea dressed up in fresh packaging — it's a proven system with decades of results behind it.
